Free Lunch Academy is an artistic outreach program that is dedicated to deterring violence, diminishing bullying, and mentoring students through the use of performance arts. Our programs are designed to both entertain and educate students on various various methods that can be used to safely resolve issues of anger, resentment and threats of violence. We seek to mutually benefit schools and communities through our interactive violence prevention showcases, workshops and after school programs that highlight real issues that plague today's youth in a thought-provoking manner.
Free Lunch Academy was founded in 2012 by Creative Director, Calvin King, who sought to provide students in Chicago and beyond with the necessary tools to safely mediate the occurrence of violence and bullying that is too often experienced in today’s classrooms. This husband and father of two is passionate about promoting safe learning environments for all children through the use of artistic expression. One way in which this objective is reached is by partnering with schools throughout the nation to provide their students with our one of a kind portfolio of program offerings known simply as, The Free Lunch Academy Experience.
